Procrastination

I don't know about you all, but I'm a terrible procrastinator. When it comes to school I usually finish by the assigned date, but if I have five work days to write a paper I will probably write it in the last two and spend the previous three doing who know what with my time. I'm an artistic person who doesn't enjoy schoolwork. However, instead of doing it quickly as I know I'm capable of, I take my time and let is stretch out through the day as I weave the things I want to do into it. I like to tell myself I have plenty of time. "I'm merely going to finish this drawing, add a few sentences to my story, or play a little guitar," are normally among the thoughts that enter my mind. Another thing I tend to procrastinate is reading my bible. I don't have a special time I've designated for bible reading and this usually means that it doesn't get done. I want to read my bible. I enjoy reading my bible "but i have so many things to do right now, so I'll get to it later." I would like to present this to myself and others who suffer from the disease of procrastination. We are stewards of our time, and our time is not our own. Our time is God's time which He has made us stewards over. To waste this is to waste our lives and God's time. I know that when I really stop and think about it, I don't have any good excuses for where my time has gone, because I've wasted it. My goal for the summer is to get into a habit of reading and meditating on the bible daily, and to always be doing something rather than letting myself lie around because I'm too lazy to come up with something to do. Pray for me.

Well, I know I'm terribly inconsistent both about posting on here and checking my friends blogs, but I DID remember this evening and decided to let you know what's going on. (If anyone actually reads this.) I've been quite busy with school: Algebra II, Geography and much, much more. In my free time I've been mostly drawing, reading, writing, playing guitar, violin, or piano, and reading God's wonderful word. I was touched last night at how much He has blessed me, and how ungrateful, selfish, and thoroughly unloving I am in return. I have a dry, sarcastic sense of humor (for those of you who don't know me or spend much time around me) and it's easy for me to make sarcastic remarks toward people with the only intention of being funny, and yet looking back now, I wonder how many times my thoughtless remarks have stung, or really hurt people. I want to say now, if I've said things in the past to hurt or offend you, I was probably un-aware of it at the time, but I still send my deepest and most humble apologies to you.
Now I would like to ask for your prayers this weekend as my Mom and two sisters are traveling to Missouri to see my sister and her family and some friends of ours. It's going to be a packed weekend! At the end of it we're going to be bringing our friend, Bethany, home with us for a few weeks, so as you may imagine we're all rather psyched about that! Prayers are much appreciated!

Living History Event

Hiya Peeps! I know I haven't posted any thing in FOREVER! but this past Monday Holly, John and I were all a part of a Living History Event. It was a lot of fun! :D John was a friend of Columbus telling about Columbus' life, Holly was Snowflake (Wilson) Bentley, and I was Hatshepsut, Lady Pharaoh of ancient Egypt. Here's some pics! Liberty Day

We are going to Liberty Day today. It is actually on Saturday, and we are going part of the way tonight, and the rest of the way tomorrow, and we are going to get to spend some time with Our friends the Erbers, who are the ones who are doing Liberty day. Alone!!

Hey,
Just thought I'd post an update from the Bentley family. Amy's been very sick with her pregnancy, and has to stay in bed, so Holly flew up there 2 days ago(last tuesday) and I've had my own room. :D I've never once had my own room and it's kinda cool, but also slightly strange. :D I feel SOO far away from everybody when I'm upstairs and Holly isn't there! :D We are going to Liberty day[ http://libertyday.blogspot.com/ ]at the end of March. The Lautenchlagers are going too, and will bring Hollydown. Then she is riding with us as far as Missouri, and then staying there to help a mom we know, who is going to Texas. She's going to go with her and help out with the kids 'n stuff. So that'll be about another week with her. So we are going to miss her a lot, and you people (except those in SD) wont C her for quite some time! XD

VALENTINES DAY

The night before valentines day dad got all us girl kit-kats, (YUM) and Mom roses. And for breakfast valentines day morning mom always makes cherry coffee cake. It was sooooo good. Mom also put tiny wooden hearts that look like candy all over the house. We always make heart-shaped sugar cookies too. We put white frosting on them and put red sprinkles on top. And to make it all the better the snow we had was only two days before! :D So here are some pictures and I hope that your valentines day was as enjoyable as ours was!! :D

Back in october the L's got came down to visit for Reformation day! It was a ton of fun. One night we got out all the candles we could find and lit them all. then of course we had to do things like put one out and light the smoke with another candle and stuff like that. :D Reformation day went really well. (I already put up pics of my dress a few posts ago. :D )

As some of you I'm sure know, We are the main planners of our church's Reformation day party on October 31st. It is going to be a ton of fun! We're gunna have games and speakers and out entire theme this year is on John Calvin. Lots of us are dressing up, and it is going to be so much fun! I'm going to make my costume, because I don't have one that fits me. I'm thinking about doing a dark blue. Here is the dress I designed in my sketchbook. I'm hoping to make it look something like this! If I get it done, I'll take a picture of what it actually ends up looking like! C y'all soon! I'll try to post before long!

Silly Putty Stuff

Hey there! Scarlett came over a few days ago and we made silly putty! It was a lot of fun. Some of the stuff we made was really stretchy! LOL (See last picture!) we took some and slowly started stretching it! It got soo long! It was a ton of fun!

Here's the recipe in case any of you want to try it!

4 cups water
2 tsp.s 20 Mule Borax
mix together in bowl

2-3 Tbsp. liquid school glue (or more if you want more but you don't need a lot)
Food coloring!!! (Whatever color you want, but I suggest not mixing colors unless you want to end up with brown)
Mix the food coloring with the glue thoroughly. Pour glue mixture into the Borax water and then use your hands to mix the glue stuff together. (Keep it in the water.) When it finally sticks together, take it out and have fun! We like to keep it in Easter Eggs, but whatever you want would work.Plastic bags etc. (Warning: After a while ((a week or two, maybe three)) the putty will get very sticky and gooey, and will make a big mess! At that point it simply needs to be thrown out!)

Hey Y'all!
We've finally got back from our trip! YAY! We had a great time! Grandma and Grandpa have a tennis court in their neighborhood, so we got to play tennis in Iowa! And then in SD we had a great time at the Army Day and Home Front Day! We had a Great time at a dance afterward too! We did square dancing and a little waltzing, and we did the Virginia Reel, and the Grand March!

Hey Everybody,
Yesterday was my Birthday party! That was so much fun. Sarah Casady http://www.ourhandsfull-sarah.blogspot.com/ , Amy Jo Underwood http://www.amyjounderwood.blogspot.com/ , and Scarlett Burnham http://honoringdaddy.blogspot.com/ were all here. We had such fun. We went swimming in the afternoon, came home and dressed up in formals and stuff like that, and then we went to the back room and took glam glam pictures. Then we ate pizza for supper. Afterward I opened gifts, and we played some games. Then we set up air beds all over the floor in front of the TV and watched Anne of Green Gables while we went to sleep. This morning we had pancakes and sausage for breakfast. Then we got out a bunch of colored paper, and stuff like that and decorated not books . This is both the front (very top) and the back (undernieth the front)

We're Home!

Hey Everybody!
We're home!!!! We got home yesterday afternoon, and got my b-day presents from Mom, Dad, Michael, Heidi, and Holly. John assures me that his is coming LOL. We had soo much fun at Anna and Peter's. Amelia is soooo sweet. She has gotten pretty big too. I'll post pictures in a few days (maybe in a few weeks, but I'll try to get it done before that. :D ) There is one really funny story though.
Sarah and Charity were both sitting at the table coloring with crayons, (Sarah is 2 and Charity is 1 and somethin' months) Charity was mumbling to herself, and then Sarah started saying , "Hey Cherry Berry (what we Call Charity sometimes) Are you talkin'? Are you Talkin'? Yes you are! Awww! Cute!" And She made Charity soo mad! Charity had a crayon in each hand, and she just sat there, and screamed! Then Sarah said,"Aww!" and she stopped talking to Charity for a while, and focusing more on her crayons. Then Charity started to talk to herself again, and Sarah started up again too. "Aww, Cherry Pie! You're talkin'! Yes you are! Aww! Hey, there, you talkin'! You Talkin'! " And Charity got so mad again, so we made Sarah stop, but it was really the funniest thing to see!

Today Michaela Johnson, her mom and two younger sisters came over for the girls' violin lessons. After Michaela's lesson, we went outside to see the tomato plants. and then we took some self portraits and came inside and took some more pictures.

Tomorrow we are going to see my sister in Florida and her family. She just had a baby. It was girl and her name is Amelia Joy! Holly and I are going to stay for a few weeks and help out. So today we went shopping to get some clothes, and ear-buds for our MP3 players, and batteries. Later we may go out shopping again to see if we can get a few more things. I will try to take lots of pictures of the girls while we are in Florida, and hope to post all about it when we get back in a few weeks. Please pray that we will be a blessing, and that God will grant us travel mercies.

With the Reeds

Ever sense Last Saturday, we've had the Reeds over here. They left this morning, but when they were here the girls learned how to sew. They both made a nightgown. I helped Rebbecca, and Mom helped Bethany. This is a picture of the finished product. :D (Bethany is the one making funny Faces. :P )
They were very proud of their work, and did a great job. I helped Rebbecca and Mom helped Bethany.
We went to the beach on Sunday after Church, and these are Bethany, John, Rebbecca and baby Samuel (in the front in the baby carrier) all ready to go to the beach. (Joshua is in the background of the picture laying on the love seat. He had just woke up from a nap. :D ) Holly took a few pics of me while we were waiting. There are about five pics, almost exactly like this one. . . . :D This one is blurry, but it is the one I clicked on, and I didn't feel like replacing it with how long it takes the pictures to load onto the computer. :D

This Summer

Hey Everybody!
This Summer I've been doing a little bit of sewing, and a good amount of writing, and some drawing.

This is a picture of a dragon that I drew.
(P.S. This is an old Drawing, but it was one that was already scanned onto the computer)

I've been a little bit uninteresting this summer thug, and haven't done much. I have been being pretty lazy. Soon, Holly (My sister) may be going to stay with my sister and her family. We are really excited about that. It ought to be a great experience.
When we come home, I think Holly has a paper she is writing :P and I hope to eventually (Though I most likely will not accomplish this this summer) save up enough money to bey a small 12" or 13" (maybe) laptop, mainly for typing my stories out on.

The Youngest Sister

I'm Laura, the youngest girl in the Bentley Family. I have four older sisters, and two older brothers and one younger brother. I love to write, and to draw, and have tried my hand at painting a few times. I love babies, and love to help take care of them. My two oldest sisters are married, and One of them has three little girls under the age of three, and the other has one under the age of one. My sister teaches Piano and Violin. My last sister, is pretty close in age to me, and we hang out together all the time.
